Bute paddle Aug 2014

Date:- 30th & 31st Aug 2014

Paddlers:- Martyn, Maurice, and Myself, Colin

Our first trip to Bute and a tail of two halves.

Early Saturday morning start, decided to catch the Ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay, due to the weather forecast being F4/F5, and not particularly feeling up to paddle across to Bute in a F4/5, as it can get a bit lumpy in the Firth, so ferry it was.

Arrived on Bute and had arranged to meet up with Roddy McDowell to collect a paddle for Carol who had left it over there from the previous weekend's Women's Symposium.

On discussion with Roddy decide the best option would to put in Ettrick Bay on the west coast, paddle up and camp over at the Argyll kayak trail camp just past Buttock point and then paddle back to Kames bay on the Sunday. Plan set and a big thanks to Roddy for the shuttle.

Setting off from Ettrick bay plenty of sunshine but wind blowing F4 however was quite a nice paddle even in the windy conditions.
